If you've tried the smaller 6x6 Product Frame Sudoku on page 33 of issue 21 you should note that the instructions are for the 9x9 version. For the 6x6 puzzle they should say "Values outside the grid reveal the product of the cells up until the first bold line in the adjacent row or column". In other words, they are the product of the first 2 cells vertically and first 3 cells horizontby gareth - Sudoku Xtra Discussion Forum
Okay, I've tried to include all of the different varieties people have asked for in issue 21, but if I've missed something or there's a type you'd particularly like me to carry on including in future issues please post here. Then when I come to start preparing the next issue I can check back here and see what's in demand!by gareth - Sudoku Xtra Discussion Forum
I've now emailed it to all subscribers and hopefully it will be available on Amazon in the next few days (I've done my part!). It's also available for PDF download immediately.by gareth - Sudoku Xtra Discussion Forum

It's the only way I can see. Looks like you need to essentially guess. David's method works well - you rapidly get a contradiction which you can see by eye.by gareth - Sudoku Xtra Discussion Forum
All noted - thanks for all the feedback; very useful! I personally find the Extra Regions Jigsaw puzzles extremely difficult, so it sounds like you're all doing really well!by gareth - Sudoku Xtra Discussion Forum
Sudoku Xtra varies in frequency, but I do intend it to be every two months. It was originally every month but I put so many puzzles in it that people couldn't get through it in a month so I had to change it to every two months (it also took me too long to make to get through on a monthly cycle!). Right now I have just about all of the material for issue 20 ready, so I do think it will be outby gareth - Sudoku Xtra Discussion Forum
Thanks for all the feedback - and I'm glad the new types are going down well! I've been hard at work on new varieties for the next issue too. You can look forward to Frame Sudoku, Argyle Sudoku, Anti-King Sudoku, Quad Clue Sudoku and even Mystery Killer Sudoku! And that's not even all of the new types I've been making.by gareth - Sudoku Xtra Discussion Forum
Ah, yes, I tend to think that the Futoshiki covers the inequality front - but I will try to remember to put some in the next issue! A whole volume of Samurai Stars isn't a bad idea at all - I'll look at doing that. Does anyone else have any interest in that? I'm glad you like the issue! I've simplified the production process for this issue (the assembly, checking and page layout bit, notby gareth - Sudoku Xtra Discussion Forum

And the links to Lulu are now gone. All of the current content is still available on Lulu, but you will need to search for it from the Lulu website itself. I won't be adding future books or magazines to Lulu from now on.by gareth - Sudoku Xtra Discussion Forum
I've just updated the announcement post at the top of the forum giving more details about local Amazon support - and much expanded local currency and country support.by gareth - Sudoku Xtra Discussion Forum
The tournament puzzles are a nice mix - with few exceptions they should all be manageable by any Sudoku Xtra readers, because I made sure none of them were too large. So even if a puzzle type is new, experimenting with it for 20 minutes or so should get you well on the road to solving it, I hope. They'll remain available for the foreseeable future, so there's no rush to go and download them righby gareth - Sudoku Xtra Discussion Forum
Further to my announcement post above about Sudoku Xtra and associated books now being available on Amazon.co.uk at regular prices with same-day dispatch and free delivery, I plan to stop supporting Lulu. Soon I will remove all of the Lulu links from the magazine and books pages, and replace them with the relevant Amazon links for your locale. I'm assuming this would not cause any great problby gareth - Sudoku Xtra Discussion Forum
Very exciting news about Sudoku Xtra and all of the special book editions listed on this site: they are now all available for immediate delivery from Amazon.co.uk. They are also available for (usually) immediate dispatch from Amazon.de, Amazon.fr, Amazon.it and Amazon.es. I also now provide links to Amazon.ca, although these are typically imported from the US and may have slight delivery delays.by gareth - Sudoku Xtra Discussion Forum
The UK Open Puzzle and Sudoku tournaments, which I've organised all the puzzles for, are taking place in Manchester this weekend (28-29 April). They'll also be available to play online at http://www.ukpuzzles.org/contests.php for the following week. There's a huge range of puzzles and sudoku from 20 or so of the world's top puzzle authors, so check it out even if you don't want to compete.by gareth - Sudoku Xtra Discussion Forum

I just added to the site the Slitherlink and Killer Sudoku books I wrote back in 2009, and which have been available on Amazon.com and Lulu.com for years but not previously as downloadable PDFs. Both books have had some great reviews on Amazon.com, which you can click through to read if you wish from the books page. The books are: Slitherlink: 100 Loop-the-Loop Puzzles and How to Solve Thby gareth - Sudoku Xtra Discussion Forum

Issue 18 is complete - well, apart from my compiling the solution pages anyway! It's looking really good if I do say so myself - another jam-packed issue, that's for sure! Thanks for posting - it did remind me to hurry up and finish the issue!by gareth - Sudoku Xtra Discussion Forum
Inequalities haven't been deliberately dropped - I just try to rotate a few of the types to ensure variety. I'll make sure they're back for issue 18, which should definitely be back on schedule, yes. I'm also looking again into the possibility of making Sudoku Xtra directly available on Amazon.co.uk too - I'm not sure it's feasible yet but I'm hoping that it will work out...by gareth - Sudoku Xtra Discussion Forum

David Millar, the community section editor of Sudoku Xtra, is running a fantastic daily Advent Calendar sudoku puzzle on his website at thegriddle.net. There's a big overall grid you print out and then each day you get given new pieces with different variant types to add into it. David's even promised postcards with custom puzzles as prizes to those who manage to complete the entire puzzle.by gareth - Sudoku Xtra Discussion Forum
